ICEYE is rolling in it. The SAR satellite operator released its financial results for 2025 this week, revealing a massively successful year for a business that found itself in the right place at the right time.

The Finnish firm’s revenue more than doubled compared with 2024, exceeding the company’s own projections by 25%. The growth was a result of the company having a long-time offering of SAR sat imagery to catch a wave of demand driven by quickly rising geopolitical tensions.

By the numbers: For 2025, ICEYE posted:

  • €250M+ in revenue;
  • €100M+ in EBITDA;
  • €350M+ in cash on hand.

Far from taking a beat to celebrate, the company will double down. ICEYE is investing in facilities to compound its production rate, aiming to satisfy its €1.5B in contracted backlog with an increasingly large constellation.

The company has a busy year ahead:

  • ICEYE plans to launch 25+ sats in 2026.
  • The company will have its own vibration-testing capabilities, beginning in June.
  • ICEYE estimates its annual production rate will reach 50 sats per year beginning next month, but the company’s medium-term goal is to churn out as many as 100 sats annually in the years ahead.

The bottom line: We’ve been tracking the rise in defense spending on space across Europe for more than a year now, but ICEYE’s financial results shed light on the way this trend is impacting Europe’s space capabilities.

It’s true that much of ICEYE’s revenue and backlog growth can be attributed to major defense deals—like the company’s partnership with Rheinmetall, which won a €1.7B contract from the German Bundeswehr—but that’s only part of the story.Alongside this income, ICEYE is building a system that can meet needs in the commercial market, by helping NGOs and commercial entities track deforestation and flood risks. The increase in SAR satellites in orbit may be driven by the defense sector, but the effect will impact both sides of the dual-use equation.
