Payload Pioneers 2024

Eric Sundby, TerraSpace

Eric Sundby is on the hunt for ore—and he’s already been to DC to educate lawmakers on what he can do to help.

Sundby is the cofounder of TerraSpace, a TX-based mineral exploration startup that utilizes a mixture of machine learning and data analysis to improve the process of ore-body discovery. It’s mainly used today on Earth, but the long-term goal is to break into the space industry to assist with space exploration.

Before starting TerraSpace, Eric worked at the Space Force Association, rising from a volunteer to the executive director of the entire organization and growing the group to 5,000+ members..

Making an impact: Eric’s broad expertise across the space and policy domain has made him a key voice in the direction of the country’s space future. At the SFA, he helped fight for the creation of the Space Force caucus, a bipartisan organization that now has 20+ lawmakers among its members. And as the CEO of TerraSpace, he testified before the House Committee on Natural Resources to promote the need for a national strategy on space resources.

Additionally, Eric serves on the board of directors of the Space Force Cadet Corps, finding ways to educate and energize the next generation of space enthusiasts.
